Fleet buy-to-let product transfers for individual landlords
Most of Fleet's customers are landlords holding properties in their own names. A product transfer lets you move onto a new two-year or five-year fixed rate without a new application, and choosing the right length matters more than it might seem.
A five-year fix gives certainty over your biggest cost for longer, while a two-year fix leaves you free to sell, restructure or remortgage sooner. Our guide to fixing or choosing a tracker when your rate ends walks through the trade-offs, and our buy-to-let mortgage page covers the wider lending picture.

Specialist Mortgages
Not every mortgage fits a lender's computer model. Much of our work at Drummonds Finance Group is with clients who have been turned down elsewhere or told their case is too complicated. We work with clients across the UK by phone and video, and we know which lenders will look at each situation properly.
What is a Fleet Mortgages product transfer?
A product transfer is a new fixed rate with Fleet on the same property and the same loan. When your current deal ends, it moves your mortgage onto one of Fleet's rates for existing customers, instead of letting it roll onto Fleet's higher revert rate.
Fleet offers two-year and five-year fixed rate product transfers across its standard, limited company and HMO and multi-unit block ranges. Because you're staying with the same lender, a new valuation and legal work usually aren't needed, which makes the switch quicker and cheaper than a full remortgage. Our mortgage product transfer page explains how product transfers work across all lenders.

Is there a fee for a Fleet product transfer?
We don't charge you a broker fee for a Fleet product transfer.
Fleet's own product transfers usually carry a completion fee set as a percentage of the loan, which has typically been lower than the fee on its new-business products. It can usually be added to the mortgage rather than paid upfront. Where Fleet offers more than one fee option, we'll show you the total cost over the fixed period, so you can see which works out cheapest.
When is my Fleet mortgage up for renewal?
Your renewal date is the date your fixed rate ends, shown on your mortgage offer and your annual statement. Fleet usually writes to you before your deal ends, but there's no need to wait for that letter.
Speak to us a few months before your end date. That gives time to confirm your eligibility with Fleet, compare the market and have the new rate ready to start the day your old one finishes. If you're already past your end date and on the revert rate, we can usually switch you straight away.
What happens if I don't switch rate?
When your fixed rate ends, your mortgage moves onto Fleet's revert rate, a variable rate set as a margin above the Bank of England base rate. It is usually much higher than the fixed rates available to existing customers, and on a typical buy-to-let loan the difference can cut deep into your rental profit.
There's normally no early repayment charge once you're on the revert rate, so the sooner you switch, the less you pay. Our guide to the Bank of England base rate explains how base rate changes feed into variable rates.
Fleet limited company product transfers
If your property is held in a limited company or SPV, your switch works the same way, and Fleet offers product transfers on its limited company range. The directors and shareholders on the original mortgage usually stay the same, and Fleet will confirm eligibility for the company before the switch.
A product transfer keeps your existing company structure in place. If you're thinking about moving properties into a company, that's a separate decision with tax consequences, and our guide to limited company versus personal name buy-to-let and our limited company buy-to-let page explain what's involved.
Fleet HMO and multi-unit block product transfers
Fleet is one of the lenders most active in HMOs and multi-unit freehold blocks, and its HMO and multi-unit range is included in its product transfers. That matters, because fewer lenders take on HMOs and multi-unit blocks, so a remortgage elsewhere can mean a smaller choice of lenders, a specialist valuation and more cost.
For many HMO landlords, a product transfer with Fleet is the simplest and cheapest way to secure a new rate. We'll still compare it with the HMO lenders on the wider market. Our HMO mortgages page and our guide to HMO investment in Oxford cover HMO lending in more detail.
Will Fleet reassess my rent, income or property?
A product transfer is much lighter than a new mortgage. A new valuation and legal work usually aren't needed, and where legal work is required, Fleet has said it covers the costs. Fleet does check that each customer is eligible before a switch goes ahead, and we confirm exactly what it needs to see in your case before applying.
This makes a product transfer especially useful if a remortgage elsewhere would be harder, for example if your rent hasn't kept pace with rates, your income has changed, or the property type limits the lenders available. Our buy-to-let calculator shows how your rent compares with the stress tests a new lender would use.
Can I borrow more or change my Fleet mortgage?
A product transfer is designed to move you onto a new rate on your existing loan. If you want to raise money, change the borrowers or restructure the mortgage, we'll check whether Fleet can do this, and if not, a remortgage to another lender is usually the route. Our guide to raising money without losing your current rate explains the options.
Should I stay with Fleet or remortgage?
Staying with Fleet is usually quicker and cheaper to arrange, with no new valuation or legal fees in most cases. Remortgaging can sometimes get you a lower rate, release equity or move several properties onto one lender.
We compare Fleet's product transfer rates and fees with the rest of the buy-to-let market, including the costs of moving, and tell you clearly which comes out ahead. If you have several properties with different lenders and end dates, our portfolio landlord page explains how we plan renewals across a whole portfolio.
